One Act Play Festival

TO ALL DRAMA LOVERS

The Festival of One Act Plays will be held at the Majestic Theatre, Malanda on the weekend of April 26-28.  Theatre companies, schools and community groups from across Northern Queensland have been invited to participate.   Interest has already been expressed by groups from as far afield as Mount Isa, Cairns and of course, the Tablelands itself.

This festival has been a feature of the Far North Queensland theatre scene for many years.  It is hosted by a different theatre group each year and this year it is the turn of the Malanda Theatre Company. Outdoor seating in Eacham Place, catering by local community groups and some street theatre will add to the Festival atmosphere.

The group has been fortunate to secure the services of well known Sydney based playwright Alex Broun.  Alex’s plays have been performed around the world including South Africa, the UK, the USA and around Australia.  Alex will evaluate each of the one act plays and will also conduct several workshops for festival participants and members of the community in Acting, Directing and Writing.
